Christian M. Chung is a trial attorney in the firm’s South Pasadena office. He predominately handles general business litigation, general casualty litigation, public entity liability, and professional liability including the representation of architects, engineers, and legal professionals. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Chung represented a public transportation authority, retail store chain, residential and commercial property owners, fitness center, and educational institution in general casualty matters. Additionally, he practiced in the areas of insurance coverage and bad faith litigation representing insurance companies.
Mr. Chung received his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology from University of California Los Angeles in 1995. He then obtained a Juris Doctor from University of Connecticut School of Law in 2000, and his Insurance LL.M. in 2001. Mr. Chung also registered as a patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2008.
Defense Verdict in Jury Trial on Negligence Claim: Mr. Chung was a part of the defense trial team that represented a public transportation authority against negligence claims for the unfortunate death of a minor. The defense trial team obtained a verdict in favor of the public transportation authority.
Summary Judgment on Premises Liability Claim: Mr. Chung represented a retail store chain against negligence claims for purported injuries at the store. The retail store did not have a documented floor inspection hours before the alleged incident. Mr. Chung successfully moved the court for summary judgment since plaintiff was unable to identify any dangerous condition at deposition.
Demurrer Sustained without Leave to Amend for Libel Claims against a Criminal Defense Attorney: Mr. Chung represented a criminal defense attorney against libel claims from a former client arising from internet postings. Mr. Chung successfully moved the court to take judicial notice of public records which led to the demurrer being granted without leave to amend.
Summary Judgment on Declaration Relief Action: Mr. Chung represented an insurance company that provided automobile coverage for a defendant in a wrong death lawsuit filed by the surviving spouse and adult children. Mr. Chung successfully moved the court for summary judgment in the declaratory relief action to have the “Each Person” limit of coverage to apply to a single death case on behalf of the insurance company.
