David Barker's practice focuses on representation of architects and engineers in matters concerned with professional liability and contractual obligations. Dave is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA - Inland Chapter), the Los Angeles County and Pasadena Bar Associations, and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel. Admitted to practice in the States of California and Nevada, the U.S. District Court, Central and Northern Districts of California and Nevada District in the State of Nevada, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Dave has authored a number of articles for design professional organizations on topics ranging from contracts and the risks of condominium projects to copyright protection for design documents and plans.
Before beginning the practice of law, Dave earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Business Administration from California Lutheran University. He received the Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he served on the National Criminal Procedure Moot Court, the California Defense Lawyers Trial Team, and the American Bar Association Trial Team.
Dave is past Chairman of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Committee on Leading Dialogues on Freedom, established in response to the events of 9/11. The Committee sends attorney and judge volunteers into the classrooms of the Los Angeles unified School District to speak with students about democracy and its inherent freedoms.
